WATER

EFFECTDamages you as long as you are in it.

IS IT WORTH FARMING?
Water cannot be found in worlds and is purchased through the Shop.  There is a Summer Sale right now, and Water is half price at 500 gems.  No notice of when it will increase again, so buy what you need now!

Water can be very hard to get started farming.  It the best gem producer of Tier 1 at 3.4/seed , but it has the lowest seed yield in Tier 1 along with Obsidian and Marble at 1.2 seeds per seed.  You may have to buy 2 or 3 blocks to get enough seed to keep a stock of it.  At 21 hours and 12 minutes, it takes the longest to grow of the Tier 1 blocks so this can be frustrating.   We recommend keeping some growing all the time to make sure you have all the seeds you need for crossbreeding and all the block you need for your parkour worlds!

SANDSTONE

RECIPE:  PURCHASE IN SHOP
TIME TO GROW: 7 MINUTES 37 SECONDS
HITS TO BREAK:  5
IS IT WORTH FARMING?
Sandstone cannot be found in regular worlds.  You can purchase the Sand Pack in the Shop which will give you 5 seeds to get started, and, fair warning, it may take you more than 1 Pack to get that farming going as, on average, you get 1.4 seeds per seed planted, and it takes 7 minutes 37 seconds to grow a Sandstone Tree.

Once you get it growing good though you will have tons of Sandstone blocks as it yields almost 20 blocks per 10 blocks broken!  In the latest update (08/30/2017), they added Fossils, which are best found by breaking all the types of sand blocks.  The video shows that you can gather dinosaur bones from breaking the Fossils and solving the puzzle and Bone Dust is what you get if don't solve the puzzle.  Bone Dust can be converted back into Fossils.  Bone Dust can be sold for about 10 per World Lock, but Sandstone is one of the worst gem-producing blocks at 1.7 gems per seed so don't use it to raise funds!

IS IT WORTH FARMING?
Sand cannot be found in regular worlds.  It can be found in "specific sand worlds," but we have yet to find any.  You can purchase the Sand Pack in the Shop which will give you 5 seeds to get started, and, fair warning, it may take you more than 1 Pack to get that farming going as, on average, you get 1.5 seeds per seed planted, and it takes 7 minutes 37 seconds to grow a Sand Tree.

Once you get it growing good though you will have tons of sand blocks as it yields about 19 blocks per 10 blocks broken. Bone Dust can be sold for about 10 per World Lock, but sand is one of the worst gem-producing blocks at 1.7 gems per seed so don't use it to raise funds!

MARBLE

RECIPE:  FOUND IN WORLDS
TIME TO GROW:  30 SECONDS
HITS TO BREAK:  5
IS IT WORTH FARMING?

Marble is easier to farm for blocks than Obsidian and Granite, but like them, it's difficult to get enough seeds to get going.  Buying the Rock Pack from the Shop will give you 10 which should be plenty to farm all the marble you need, though it might be a bit slow going at first with our seed formula showing it being the lowest seed yield in Pixel Worlds along with Water and Obsidian, averaging only 1.2 seed per seed planted.  It will give you about 2.1 gems per seed planted so not good for raising money either.

LAVA

EFFECT:  Damages you as long as you are touching it

IS IT WORTH FARMING?

Lava can be found in worlds, but it's not as easy to find as Soil Block.  Using our seed formula, we found that 1 seed of Lava, on average, will give you 1.4 seeds so it is only so-so for farming blocks.  Once you get started farming them and have more seeds, it gets easier, but you may have to go find a few empty worlds and harvest all their Lava before it really takes off.  For gems, it produces about 23 per 200 blocks broken so it's not the best for raising funds.  It is a very popular block for parkour world building as it does harm to those touching it, so you can sell it for 1 World Lock per 200 blocks (as per Went, 08/29/17).

OBSIDIAN

RECIPE:  FOUND IN WORLDS
TIME TO GROW:  30 SECONDS
HITS TO BREAK:  6

IS IT WORTH FARMING?

Obsidian can be found in worlds, but it's not as easy to find as Soil Block.  It was originally a hard block and took 12 hits to break rather than the usual 5 hits most blocks need. It was changed in 2017 in an attempt to make clearing worlds easier.  Using our seed formula, we found that 1 seed of Obsidian, on average, will give you 1.2 seeds so it, along with Water and Marble, are very hard to get started for farming blocks.  For gems, it produces 42 per 200 blocks broken so it's not bad for raising funds.  All in all, if you need Obsidian for crossbreeding, it's a lot easier to go to the shop and spend the 500 gems for a Rock Pack and get 10 seeds of Obsidian as well as Granite and Marble.

This was changed in 2017 in an attempt to make clearing worlds easier.  Using our seed formula, we found that 1 seed of Granite, on average, will give you 1.5 seeds so it is pretty good for farming blocks.  For gems, it only produces 20 per 200 blocks broken so it is not a very good investment.  All in all, if you need granite for crossbreeding, it's a lot easier to go to the shop and spend the 500 gems for a Rock Pack and get 10 seeds of Granite as well as Obsidian and Marble.

TIER 1 GROWTH AND DROP SUMMARY

IS IT WORTH FARMING?
This is the second most common block in Pixel Worlds.  It is easily harvested from any world you create or find unlocked, and its growth rate is a whopping 91%.  There's no need to farm it though as you will easily get all the Cave Wall blocks and seeds you want from designing your own world or just digging in free worlds.  It will only get you about 18 gems per 200 blocks broken and no one is going to buy it so it's not good for gem farming.

SOIL BLOCK

RECIPE:  FOUND IN WORLDS

TIME TO GROW:  30 SECONDS
HITS TO BREAK:  3

IS IT WORTH FARMING?

This is the most common block in Pixel Worlds.  It is easily harvested from any world you create or find unlocked.  It will only get you about 20 gems per 200 blocks broken and 1.3 gem per tree grown so it's not good for gem farming.  We found that, on average, 1 seed will yield 1.8 seeds so it is very, very easy to farm Soil Blocks.  There's no need to though as you will easily get all the Soil Blocks and seeds you want while designing your own world or just digging in free worlds.

Right now a bunch of Pixelians are striving to find the "Legendary Soil Block."  It is really rare and we've heard it may take breaking as many as 100,000 Soil Blocks to get it to drop.
